A 63-year-old male with severe diabetes mellitus was undergoing insulin therapy. He also had chronic lower limb arterial occlusive disease that was difficult to manage.
Despite standard treatment, including pharmacotherapy and catheter-based revascularization, necrosis developed at the tip of the right hallux. In March 2014, amputation was considered.
The patient subsequently began taking Grand Rubellus® at a daily dose of 150 mg upon the recommendation of another physician.
Over the following year, improvement in the condition of the affected limb was observed, and progression of necrosis was not reported.
Although the patient later required dialysis due to diabetic nephropathy, he continued taking the supplement, and no further deterioration of the foot condition was noted during follow-up.
